Agreed. AMD has traditionally been significantly faster and cheaper than Intel. Further more it is only AMD's huge performance lead that woke Intel up enough to drop the mhz myth, accept multi-core as the future, and start making decent processors again.
It just so happens that we are at a very unusual point in time where AMD currently has neither a performance nor price advantage over Intel, but these things can change very fast (as the past few months have shown).
All that said, the facts that this rumor is based upon do in no way lead to the conclusion that Apple is considering using AMD processors, and further it probably wouldn't work well into Apple's current product line-up and marketing strategy to switch to AMD at this time.

This is the carriers messing people over, not Google.
Google added wireless hotspot feature to all Android 2.2 (Froyo) devices last year (and Apple included a similar feature in to the iPhone 4 with IOS 4 AFAIK).

As much as I like google as a company, as with everything they start I'm sure they will never finish this. I've come to believe google is incapable of releasing a complete, polished project. But maybe I'm just bitter since I own a 40" google tv that is virtually incapable of doing anything worth doing on a tv.

I think lightroom is even slower?
esp when you do adjustment to photos like hue etc.
on my iMac, Aperture can render instantly, while lightroom obviously has pause. I know that's because aperture use graphic card, but why can't lightroom?

I had a few friends watching the football game (where we saw the ad) and half of them thought it was an iphone commercial because they were only half paying attention and heard "there's a map for that".
Pretty shoddy work in my opinion.
Seems like it worked. Got a lot of people talking about it, razzing on AT&T and saying good for them (Verizon). On an Apple forum no less. Mission accomplished.

No, there will be no change in computing. It's already general and basic enough to cover all the bases.
and tablets are the future of it. I do think servers/ power machines will remain, but I can see them becoming specialised (such as in power stations etc). I can see Linux filling that whole perfectly. I do feel that tablets/ touch based computers are the future, but I think they need voice recognition software to truly come into play for text input. If the iPad had a killer voice recognition software, then MS Word for iPad might truly become a game changer. As good as any touchscreen is, typing 2,000 words on a touchscreen would be a bit of a push.

Best Buy = Worst Buy.. I hold my opinion that they are worst buy.
I don't have a problem with Best Buy per se. Just some of their sales people and store managers. They are undertrained for what they are talking about (so what is the Z12q rating on this Mac again?) or just way pushy about their Geek Squad etc.
My way around there is to go in to window shop and then I price check around and if it turns out that Best Buy has the best price I'll order online for in store pick up and avoid the floor staff. A win all the way around
