Is there a benefit to having fonts activated and deactivated on the fly?
yeah, so you don't have to put the fonts you want to use in user/library/fonts by hand, like citizenzen and you recommended.
but i agree, what citizenzen added, that there's more important stuff to take care of than solely choosing the typeface. but for organisazion, overview and samples the fontexplorer comes in handy.
at least it does for my work.

Ok, so lets say I go with 3rd party memory. If I have an unrelated problem with the MBP, would I need to put the original memory back in before taking it in for service?
I'm new to the whole Mac thing. Thanks.
First, it's ALL 3rd party RAM, since Apple doesn't make RAM. They put other manufacturer's RAM in their computers. Second, upgrading the RAM or hard drive yourself is not a violation of warranty, so there's no need to put the original RAM back before service. Hang onto the original RAM, in case you have a problem with the RAM you buy.
... Apple cannot give me crap for using third party ram.
They wouldn't, anyway. See above.
Apple Warranty: Installing Memory, Expansion Cards, User Installable Parts Does Not Void Warranty (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=13946)
From 2011 MacBook Pro User Guide (http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/MacBook_Pro_15inch_Early2011.pdf):
Your MacBook Pro does not have any user-serviceable parts, except the hard drive and the memory.

I have no clue what he did to say he'd get a "WTF" from Aplle but good going anyway!
He made jailbreak possible when they thought they closed it...yet again...so there's a WTF moment.

As stated: Syphon Filter is excellent, but other than that I would recommend the following...
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
(if you have the Japanese gps, I'm pretty sure you can unlock characters while you travel from WiFi hotspot to hotspot)
Field Commander(if you don't feel like buying/bringing a DS for Advance Wars)
Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters
Daxter
Family Guy is fun on the portable, but I don't know if it has the replay value you are looking for.
.....and of course ANY of the Grand Theft Auto's have plenty of challenges to keep you gaming for a while.
Cheers and have fun.
If you want classics: Mega Man, Gradius, Street Fighter, Metal Slug, etc.

In OS X you can literally control just about any aspect of the the operating system via terminal. I would argue that an expert *nix user has more "unrestricted control" over OS X than an expert windows user can have under XP.
I am sure many OSX Server admins will disagree with you on this one.

The ID is the number in the URL of your profile
i.e. http://forums.macrumors.com/member.php?s=&action=getinfo&userid=1329
1329 being the ID number.
It indicates when you joined in relation to everyone else.

just to clarify, i'm not asking for advice in if I should invest. I understand concerns that apple has hit an all time high, but I strongly believe it will only increase in the next year.
If anyone has any advice as to how I can do this that would be great.

You should really change a couple of his computers to your name! :D
No kidding. When he said he might be into Folding, I gave him our team number and my user name. He didn't fall for it, though.:p

Daedalus256,
Any closer to a decision yet on parting out your machine ?
Just wondering, as it seems you have several interested potential buyers, like me :)

Do you still live at home with your parents, or are you away at school? If you rent an apartment you should be able to buy renters insurance and purchase additional coverage for your gear. I did this while I was away at school and renting an apartment. It was only a few extra bucks a month for the extra coverage. If you still live with your parents they can buy additional coverage on their property insurance.

Can anyone who bought a iPad 2 AT&T 3G version who also has an iPhone 4 confirm that the microsim from the iPhone4 can be switched with the iPad 2s microsim to "borrow" the Internet data?
I know it was possible with iPad 1, not sure with iPad 2. Thanks.

Another vote for Linotypes Font Explorer.
I think it's great. After the switch to OSX I found Suitcase a world of pain!
(It was great in 7,8 and 9!)

Sorry to hear about the problem.
Might want to try Apple Store next time.
If you want a discount on a Mac, go for the refurb at store.apple.com
Refurb Apple products look like new, and has same warranty as new Apple products.
