With any luck, we're going to see one-day like batting by Australia towards the end.
Yeah to be honest I'd love to see that happen, it would be a fitting end to a great series.....a draw would be a let down..... England to win by 1 run ;-)

I am shocked at the huge amount of hate for Jews, Christians and Muslims here...sure, I disagree and think they are mistaking, but I'll live my life and encourage them to do the same.
As for the question of Israel and Palestine...I think some in Israel is acting a bit unreasonable, but I do support its right to exist. And the same for Palestine. Hopefully moderates can come together and get an agreement together to better the lives of people in those two states.

Fake?
Anyone else think it's a fake? I don't see how the front facing camera could possibly follow his head _way_ off to the side the way it does... but I could be wrong (don't have an iPad2 to see how wide angle the lens is)

AND I HATE when people say ALL Macs are SLOW when they are running on a G3 iMac!!
I think switching to Intel is helping Apple dispel this argument. Before Apple was captive to the Megahertz Myth, but now that Macs are using the same CPUs as PCs, for most casual consumers this will hopefully translate to acceptance that Macs get more or less the same performance as PCs (I am talking casual consumers not gamers which are a small fraction of the overall consumer market).

it's a pretty big assumption to assume that a student is 'hacking the network' because he's on a laptop.
So hack it from a terminal, show him up... XP
Ok DONT, but his logic is probably that if you hack from a terminal i'm guessing that they can track it a lot easier, hack from a laptop and it could be anyone right? I don't know, i may have watched too many NCIS and spy shows...
But basically if you bring in "hacking software" software on a laptop it'd be just as easy to bring it on a memory stick  and i don't know about your school, but i know mine didn't really have a great rep for being secure :p
I did bring in my laptop once and a while, but being almost the only one in the school bringing a laptop, and having it be a shinny white mac kind of puts a target on your back for anyone that wants to ******* with you.
BOTTOM LINE: Imo just don't bring your laptop unless you can actually see the policy, it might not be a school policy, he might just be an ass hole, but don't screw with him.

I'd get the New Yorker in a minute if it was even remotely priced the way it would be for a print subscription.
The demand is not there because their prices are unrealistic.
The economist offers ipad access free with the print subscription, so now my print editions sits largely unread and I read it on my ipad which is always with me and up to date with latest issues even when I'm on the road, and with the latest update I can quickly start a discussion with friends on interesting articles.
I used to subscribe to wired ( 25 USD per 2 years If I recall ? ) .. and currently get the New Yorker.. but expecting you to pay 5 Dollars a issue, is a joke, with almost zero distribution costs, after the initial investment in a app platform is made, I'd expect ipad only version to be cheaper.. but even if it was the same price I'd switch.

I know it happens and there's nothing I can do. But if at some point something critical gets released that really pisses Apple off then we as developers may lose access to this information. Or be forced to pay a much higher price for early access.
Leaking this info doesn't benefit anyone but losing access to the pre-release versions could seriously effect the smaller developers. I just find it pathetic that some people just have no respect for others.
You are right, of course... Sites like this exist though because people are hoping someone will say something they shouldn't. I tend to think the good (derived from the passion and hype) balance the bad.
It's not my information being divulged though, it's Apple's, so what I think doesn't matter so much...

Pietersen had to prove his worth! He's hardly been the best player of the series but when they really needed him, he came good! Had he got out, this could have been a very different result!

Picked up a copy of this up on Amazon. They have a $20 gift card deal going on. Plus if you buy the Playstation 3 version (and sync your PSN and Steam IDs) you can download a free copy of the game for your PC or Mac. So that's about $35 for the game and a $20 gift card, plus free shipping (2 day shipping for Prime members) and no tax? That's a good deal in my book. :D

who needs 8gb, sheesh. i barely use 2gb of my 4gb of ram as it is. even using photoshop, I have never seen it max out.
well you have to remember the OS is going to see more ram free and be more willing to use it. It likes to keep so much free for the OS and become pickier the closer to gets to maxing it out. I would say the same thing but I have 6 gigs in my current computer and have crossed 4 gigs all the time. I can watch how quickly it will climb until it starts getting close to crossing 4 gigs then it wants to start to be a little picker and slows down its rate of climb.

How do you play those CNN videos on a Mac?
You need Flip4Mac's codecs. Then it works just fine. CNN wants $25 for a years' worth.

Actually, I was just putting that out there for people looking for a torrent of it.
What program was that you used to torrent streamed TV? Sounds interesting!
It actually was a PC programm (long live bootcamp), it's called TVUPlayer. Works really well. :)

You must be new here. Just kidding.
Apple was first to bring realtime effects to a mainstream platform with motion as Motion used the GPU for effects. Eventually other large software houses followed suit. Problem is that Motion sucks in so many other ways it fell by the way side.
Now with Final Cut X Apple is leap frogging again with Grand Central Dispatch, etc. These speed advantages are a huge reason for some of the best editors in the world to stay onboard with final cut and buy more apple boxes - which cost about the same as a pc when you add the extra costs of 3rd party pc software and the like. Besides reliability is essential for editors and Macs have that in spades.
That's a bit disingenuous. Yes there are editors who use FCP. And yes many Avid editors also have an FCP license on their laptop or home computer as well. Why not, it's cheap and can use third party hardware.
When you compare actual employed editors who work in Film and Television, Avid is still king. Apple skews the numbers by comparing the amount of software sold, but it's better to look at the projects completed and see what tools were used.
The question is whether this new release and their strategy is going to continue to draw working editors away from Avid or just continue to be a great prosumer video editing tool that has gotten easier to use.
You can't evaluate the product based on an Apple pitch if you rely on your editing software for a living. How do you know it kicks out and accurate EDL? How do you know if it still kicks out solid OMF files to your sound designer?
Avid, Final Cut, Premiere, they are all just tools and you have to use the right tool for the job.

This data is stored in a log file on the device.
The data is not information about the user or the device but rather temporal and location data about cell phone towers and wifi hotspots used to assist in locating your location in google maps app faster.
A bug exists where this file is not purge/rotated periodically like other log files and this file is backed up to iTunes.
I keep on hearing about "privacy" issues but these are facts about what hotspots/towers are online at a specific point in time and their locations relative to each other. None of this is personal and can be obtained by anyone with the proper equipment driving around in a trunk.
In a nutshell, it describes what network resources are available around you and not where you are. This data is not super accurate either but is only used in speeding up triangulation of GPS coordinates using cell towers and wifi hotspots.

Oh come on .. Well know why this was done. Just go read the post about when it was released. I could see this coming a mile away. Either a they would do this or b they would start doing the audits they talk about with educational purchases. There must have been atleast 50 people who blatantly posted about abusing the discount on a "public forum" and hundreds maybe thousands more who thougt of it. Lets say I owned a store and I saw a forum online where 50 plus people said they knew a way to rip off my store, do you think I would leave it vulnerable? I dont know ... maybe this is the reason or maybe it isnt but I think ts great they did it. Because now all the people who thought they could do this and thought its no different from walking in a store and walking out with out paying for an item, will have to mow a few more lawns or bag a few more grocerys and pay what the rest of the honest people out there will. I know I know I am sounding uber negative here but not nearly as negative as someone trying to justify stealing on a "public forum".

and then followed up torbjoern's comment of "it's not your country anymore"
I was referring to the EU... as in the European Union! I do understand that this might seem like xenophobia (which it isn't), but it's certainly not racist. Just because I don't want my country (nor any other country except Belgium) to be ruled from Brussels?! Are you drunk or something? Or don't you understand what it entails to be a member state of the EU? Geez, if I'm a racist or xenophobe based on my statement "it's not your country anymore", then there are no limits for what can be said about you.
