FYI, EVERY application run in OSX natively takes advantage of multi-cpus.
Even on a G4, OSX will make every attempt to load the CPUs evenly no matter the application. There are only a few very rare instances where the work can't be split up, and most of them are limited to photoshop's outdated tools.
Nope, the app has to be specifically multi-threaded to see more than 1 core, it doesn't matter what OS X does. All OS X does is allow apps to do this and sends different threads to different cores. But if the app can't see more than 1 core all its data will only go to 1 core.

I did a clean install and it did not fix the vibration and whine problem. A few suggested pulling your hard drive out and put it back in. I did that but it did not stop the vibration. I did some more research and found out if you place the laptop on the palm of you hand or place a napkin under the right front foot or lift the left side of the laptop 4-5 inches the vibration stops. As far as the whine I got this explanation from appledefects.com.
Idle Processor Noise
The MacBook is victim to the high pitched noise generated by the processor, known as the 'CPU whine'
This occurs only when the CPU is idle
Disabling the second core of the processor or running a program that prevents the processors from being idle will eliminate this sound (like PhotoBooth).
This has also been observed on the MacBook Pro, as well as other Core Duo based PC laptops.
Unlike the Macbook Pro, Apple has yet to recognize this issue.

Videos of the new live preview in the Finder:

http://www.musingsfrommars.org/video/quicklook3s3.mov - notice that Finder is Unified.

Thats pretty fricken awesome, I can so see myself using that feature while searching through my vast array of unorganized and terribly named documents. And its nice to see that the GUI has been unified to some degree here.

I'm still amazed that we're at the point where we can measure Apple on the 'mobile phone' scale and not just the 'smartphone' scale.
Indeed, and unlike the trolls, Apple users are amazed at how well Apple is doing in these rankings. When the iPhone first came out, I doubt anyone expected Apple to do as well as it has.

Jon Stewart is an unimaginable idiot. He strikes me as fairly bright person, who like all TV talking heads, is intentionally stupid on TV, which is why I cannot watch.
His opening comments forced me to shut it off before even getting to the part about Apple....if he doesn't know by now that Obama is aiding in dismantling the Constitution, just like Bush did, just like Clinton did, just like Bush before that, then you're either an idiot, or intentionally trying to deceive and divert people, and for both reasons I cannot watch Jon Stewart.

It's funny. Come on!
Not it's not.
It was the first 2 or 3 times they did it. Not so much the 87th.

Update doesn't work here on my Mac Pro. I get the flashing, the beep and then the progress indicator pops up for a split second, and the machine reboots without having done the update (the update window comes up again when the Mac is up and running again). Go figure. I will try a manual download instead of using software update and see if it helps.

That said, this is already a rain effected series, Australia wouldn't have drawn the 3rd test if we hadn't lost a day to rain, and England would already have won the Ashes, so winning by a rain effected draw is fine by me, that's cricket and it goes both ways.
That's very true, it cuts both ways. I don't think England could pull off a win from here, but then again Austrailia need to up the run rate if they want to get another innings out of us without them worrying about their own second innings.

One thing you have to know is that IT people that work in schools are most likely political appointees, they know nothing and are worth nothing.
Make sure you get your laptop back.
Appointee...??? What are you talking about, it's not a position of office!!
Fact is in most places they probably get paid more than the teachers!

Never pierced my face - ears and tongue - sure. Took the tongue thing out after I chipped a tooth while eating - not worth it.
The guy who pierced my tongue told me he does the prince albert (penis piercing) as well. He said the first one he did was on himself - ouch. He said he lost a ton of blood and later that night he and his wife went to Lounge Ax - a (defunct) local music club. One beer in his head started spinning, he hit the floor and broke his nose - man - what a dumba$$.Did he tell you this before or after he finished? http://forums.macrumors.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=11013&stc=1

I just back from Best Buy after pre-ordering an iphone 4. There were 4 models to choose from, White or Black, 16gb or 32gb. There was a $50 deposit, for which I received a BB gift card which will be used when I pick up the phone, and I now have an scheduled appointment at BB so I'm guaranteed to get it on the release date - plus, I won't have to wait in any lines when I get there.
Prior to going to BB, I tried to order a phone online through Apple as well as AT&T. The Apple website got stuck at the point where I selected the phone I wanted. The AT&T website did not show the iPhone 4 as an option. Don't bother calling AT&T to try an order the new iphone - they will not take your order and will just refer you somewhere else.

What's with all those nuns, eh?
I see your point. Like the burqa, a nun's gown covers her face. And like Muslim women, nuns are often forced to wear their robes because they are forced to by their husband with rape and/or beating as possible punishment for non-compliance.
Solid analogy.

Bit late but:
England!!!!!
Stuck in a studio all day yesterday with no internet access, but a nice big 50" plasma screen to watch the action on.... :D
Cracking stuff, Peterson was majestic.
Shame we won't see Warne playing over here in an Ashes series again, the man is a god.

Weren't the "SIM ejector tools" made of Liquidmetal? :p
Supposedly, but the iPad 2 one seems not to be:
http://www.iphone-my.com/2011/03/unsung-ipad-2-feature-new-sim-ejector.html
So they made a Liquid Metal trial by using it for the SIM ejection tool, and then switched back to bent paper clips? Let's hope this carbon fibre thing has better success...

It sounds like Nokia is bleeding money and needs an Apple hand-out. You can just smell the desperation.
Let me just sum this up in advance:
Apple sues someone: "They are protecting their IP/trademarks."
Someone sues Apple: "They are bleeding money and need an Apple handout" or "Patent troll"
Usually this is followed by someone with a 'shareholder' remark since they somehow believe that owning 7 shares of Apple should get them a direct line to the CEO.
Ut-oh, I'm not conforming to the groupthink... here comes about 40 'hater' comments.

I feel the same way. Just wait a while. There will be sales and It'll go down in price in time. Valve is good about this, unlike say Nintendo. I'll be getting it then myself.
Just because you and I don't agree with him is no reason to be rude.
Agreed. Orange Box was and is the best value in gaming. At the same time, Portal 1 (I dont mean this in a bad way at all) was not a fully realized stand alone title(though it was genius...and one of my fav games). Portal has really raised the bar in regards to content, co-op...etc. And 45$ on Steam aint bad:)
On your second note, +1
I get so tired of snobbery against dissenting opinions on this forum. Stay well friend!

So you could theoretically build and conceal tracking stations all over the place and thus monitor these short-range transmissions. Wouldn't it be simpler just to hide cameras all over?
