Do the iMacs still use a mobile GPU and Ram? I know the processor is now desktop grade, at least I think it is....

Yes, the CPU is desktop and RAM and GPU are mobile

Did you notice the double slots at the top where the front facing camera and ear speaker are?
I wonder what that is for. My Black iPhone 4 does not have that.

    It's stated in the article:

As in other recent photos, the final version of the white iPhone 4 carries a redesigned proximity sensor area on the front panel, utilizing a relatively large, lozenge-shaped area above the earpiece as opposed to the grille of small holes seen in early designs.

In Stockholm and Frankfurt, I hardly see any iPhones. Also, I hardly see any iPads. I do however see a ton of MacBookPros but almost no MacBookAirs.

I find both places very style-centric (Stockholm especially), but also somewhat frugal. I don't think that iPhone will reach as large of a market share in Europe due to the high upfront cost of an iPhone (659€/799€ for 16GB/32GB).

Actually, it's running joke that you can identify an American by iPhone/iPad (aside from the loud inane conversation).

i'm from near frankfurt and i have yet to see a iPad out in the wild ... so much for portable :P but i seen one used at a friends house ^^

i see lots of iPhone's in my class tho, its kinda annoying to have a iPhone by now. we had to do a project for class recently and 4 of 5 out of my group had a iPhone 4 (with 2 of those having shattered screens - but that is another matter)

I agree. Nike shoes are the least of our worries when it comes to tracking.

As you said above, someone could simply watch you go by. Since cameras can now transmit their images to facial recognition software, that process could be automated as well.

And when we're calling 911 from our cell phones or trying to find our lost dog with the implanted chip or our car with the LoJack, we're glad that all of these tracking systems are in place.

Against the will of who? Read a history book...

Was this by chance said into a mirror?

The partitioning didn't go well though, the Palestinians weren't fond of the idea. Which created the mess there is today.

Wikipedia is not a history book.

Otherwise one would know that is the simplified, glossed over, selective revision of the actual events.

Love the new shuffle design, how much smaller can they make these things?!?! I feel my fat fingers might struggle.

I was thinking exactly the same thing with the convienience of the old style shuffle, was very handy for popping uni work on and what not, simple plug and go effort. shame that has gone in order to make things smaller.

    cath

I was thinking exactly the same thing. The old shuffle was an excellent data key. I'd use it for running in the morning and data during the day. I can't keep my eyes off the shiny new little thing though.

If they bring something out to protect it from the elements when I'm bouncing around the roads on those cold wet sinter mornings we have in wales, then I think my old shuffle is going to make its way to my bro, he broke his a couple of weeks ago.

I just back from Best Buy after pre-ordering an iphone 4. There were 4 models to choose from, White or Black, 16gb or 32gb. There was a $50 deposit, for which I received a BB gift card which will be used when I pick up the phone, and I now have an scheduled appointment at BB so I'm guaranteed to get it on the release date - plus, I won't have to wait in any lines when I get there.

Prior to going to BB, I tried to order a phone online through Apple as well as AT&T. The Apple website got stuck at the point where I selected the phone I wanted. The AT&T website did not show the iPhone 4 as an option. Don't bother calling AT&T to try an order the new iphone - they will not take your order and will just refer you somewhere else.

How did you secure an appointment to get set up? Which color did you get? I preordered 2 white iPhones 1st at the local Best Buy, but they weren't able to set an appointment for receiving and setting up the iPhone but said they'll call me "soon" to set one up.

    Not paint, point.

With a black bezel, the whitest point of the screen looks like white to your eyes.

With a white bezel, the bezel is the whitest, so white on the LCD never looks white. it usually looks blue or yellow.

Works both ways though, black on the display of the 'old' iPhone 4 never looks quite black with the black face of the phone.

Glad to read I'm not the only one drawn to the 11" MBA. Still I can't make a final decision.

I can afford both for my business but I'm trying to use less computers not more. That's why I originally chose the 13", so it could be my one 'main machine'.

As sensible as that is I still want the 11" for a main machine. The ease of carrying it everywhere, fun to use aspect just might outweigh the practicality of the larger screen, added power, SD card slot.

    I'm still undecided.

Well, it looks like google won the smartphone battles. I kinda thought it would happen, just nowhere near this fast.

We'll have to see if they can spin android success into tablet success, too. I wouldn't be surprised.

google didn't win, they just commoditized the smartphone market like intel/ms/dell/hp commoditized the PC market so long ago

with iOS 4 and Android 2.2 the software can do pretty much what most people expect of a smartphone. no reason to pay iphone prices for a phone since companies that don't care about margins are now getting into the game. happens in almost every market.

with the iPad apple has such huge sell numbers that they can take advantage to sell cheap. with smartphones the carriers and manufacturers play games where the profit is made on google ad sharing, insurance, etc

Let me just sum this up in advance:

Apple sues someone: "They are protecting their IP/trademarks."

Someone sues Apple: "They are bleeding money and need an Apple handout" or "Patent troll"

Usually this is followed by someone with a 'shareholder' remark since they somehow believe that owning 7 shares of Apple should get them a direct line to the CEO.

If Nokia has had these patents for 10 years before the iPhone, then why didn't they act when the iPhone was first released?

EyeTV has a free service called My EyeTV which resolves the IP. You just need to register with your email address and a password, then within the EyeTV app on the iPhone you enter same and you can connect from anywhere.

If you want to opt out and not provide this information, you can get the OS X version of dyndns.org to manage a domain name that handles dynamic IP address changes.

i was waiting for a os x gpu client before i did it. seems much more efficient than cpu folding

A good folding farm running a bunch if bigadv units and with their bonuses could bring in more than GPU clients. My 950 @ 4ghz brings in 27k+ PPD with the bonus.

Or not! It's all falling apart again. England will be luck to get to 350 from here!

Not a bad thing, we might see a 5-day Test...

I thought Collingwood was very poorly used there, the ball was about three inches outside the line.

Bugger, there goes Struass, 350 might be a tall ask now....

    297/7, Strauss out for 129.

How cute... ATT is starting to pretend to care. :) Good step forward, guys.

I'll 2nd that there main emphasis is going to be in major metropolitan area's. and than from there they'll ramp up to newer technology.

I still say once verizon comes online with GSM it will be something to see and how they deal with the problems

iPhone on Verizon will be a site to see and hopefully it comes true, but I have my doubts.

Just imagine how many people would jump from AT&T to Verizon:eek:

/me secretly crosses fingers for Sept. 12th

Which is why he said he is either delusional OR a liar. Basically he is blowing smoke up everybody's ***. You can't deny that there is a signal issue. It is very easily reproduced. Also it is not just the bars, but a lot of times the call will get choppy or drop. Then when you take your fingers off it is clear as a crystal.

Chris Breen on the latest Macworld podcast gave a good description of these blind Apple loving fans that do nothing but turn ordinary people off from buying their products. ;)

Shouldn't leaking trade secrets be some sort of civil contract violation, rather than a crime you can be arrested and jailed for?

You'd think the right thing to do would be to fire and fine them. What is putting them in jail going to accomplish?

No, leaking trade secrets is a crime. What confuses many people is that trade secrets are usually kept secret by contracts; for example my employment contracts forbids me to tell people about future plans of my company, so telling the world would indeed be a breach of contract. But that contract is really what keeps the information secret: If I was allowed to tell you, then it wouldn't be a trade secret anymore. And therefore telling you would be a breach of trade secret and a crime.

On the other hand, people think they are allowed to leak trade secrets because they didn't sign an NDA: If it is a trade secret, then you are not allowed to leak it (for example if someone who _was_ under NDA told you about it). But if a company is careless, then things that were supposed to be trade secrets may stop to be trade secrets.

Not my point. I was reffering to working conditions in China and that these poor workers just do not quit thier jobs if they do not like them and get another job in another factory.

If anyone doesn't like their job, they can quit, they can stick it out, or they can try to improve things. What they cannot do is commit crimes. And who says that these crimes where committed because someone was unhappy with their job? More likely just a case of greed.
