I suppose there could be a bit of news here for non-photographers.
As I understand it, Aperture uses OS X's built-in RAW image processing. If I remember rightly, the last Aperture update accompanied an OS X update. So it's possible 10.4.8 could be just around the corner (i.e. sometime this week?)
It still is pretty poor with compatibility when it comes to RAW. For example, it still can't read white balance from the meta data on RAW files off Canon cameras. Great!

Perhaps all the developers are spending too much time on Leopard and Logic 8 at the moment.

We've been sent the OS and while we haven't loaded it on our iPhone just yet, here is what we have been told it will address:
- Battery life improvements.
Well this should make some people very happy (but will it finally, once and for all, fix the battery life of the iPhone?)

Resizing only means having to rewrite apps if the screen resolution changes -- especially if it changes by something other than a whole-number multiple (e.g. 1.5x versus 2x). All rumors indicate a 3.7-inch screen iPhone would have the same Retina-Display resolution (still maintaining over 300dpi).
Technically their "Retina-Display" stuff is based also on typical viewing distance as well -- so a "Retina Display" iPad, iMac, or MacBook (assuming those are in the works) may not go as high as 300dpi. However, a Retina-Display iPad would like require the same pixel-doubling (2x) that was done for apps not optimized for the Retina Display until updates came that included higher-resolution graphics.
But will they stop calling it a retina display then? Because the dpi will drop with screen size increase :D

FYI, I just looked up the US Department of Transportation statistics.

um just walked into my local Best buy and bought a 16gb ipad 2 Wifi in black. they had like 7 or 8 of each model. interesting... maybe they�re not participating in this so called promotion.

Actually, if she were any good, wouldn't she be teaching in a private school and making more money? I don't have much confidence in developers who eschew the App Store for their applications anyways, as in almost all cases it is a bad business move. I appreciate the business savvy of developers and companies who realize what a real advantage the app store model is, especially if you have a strong product.
That's pretty narrow minded of you. We sell a successful product for $1000 that uses an advanced licensing system for large facilities to "float" licenses between machines. The "App Store model" would be a horrible move for both us and our customers. Fortunately, since the people who need our tools already know about them (and would likely never turn to the app store to find such tools anyway), this isn't a big deal.

And what makes you thing a simple answer doesn't mean anything to me? I get a lot of simple "direct" answers that have help me in the Apple Forum but If your so disgusted and sensitive, feel free to leave the thread, some people do want to help here.
This is almost like a Chess game, if I say that I have read Stephen G. Kochan's book, the beginning iPhone SDK programming with objective-c, Pro core data for OS, beginning iPHone development, the developers cookbook, Masters of the void and so on, as well as watch many iTunes U and WWDC videos... you know what many here are will say ?? how about " well then you should read them all over again or any x, y thing..
the point is.. you can't never fulfill peoples expectations and that applies to anything, not just programming. So, follow your way I say (theres no limitations there). My state of newbie or dummy if you want to call it, is temporary, just like any Pro was but you already get an idea of who's willing to help you and who just wants to play with you.

Indeed. THe rumors were everything from Dec 27, 2010 to when pigs fly. It is not like Apple said they would tell us something by today.
That said, I don't see it happening. Frankly I don't see Apple building a CDMA phone series. Just makes things messy. Now when LTE is mature enough that 90+% folks never have to use a CDMA fallback and the rest rarely do, maybe. When someone comes up with a GSM/CDMA/LTE tri chip that doesn't cost a small fortune, eat up battery by lunch time etc, maybe. But I really think that in terms of 2011 all this CDMA jobs etc is about the ipad, not the iphone.

I been a browser of this forum for years, but never posted many threads, Picked up My black 16g wi-fi iPad 2 on launch day at Best Buy. The store was chaos, and it turned out to be a very lucky day. I told the stoner at the register I wanted to pay some of the balance in cash and the rest with my credit card. He counted the cash I gave him which was $230.00 looked dumbfounded for a moment, printed out a receipt and handed me my bag, followed by are we cool? I said yes, walked out and could not believe he never asked for the remaining balance. Walked out with a brand new ipad for 230.00 Wow!! Now normally I'm honest about things in that nature, but I have been screwed by Best Buy so many times I looked at it as being payback. Picked up a green smart cover incase sleeve and a STM micro ipad carry on sling pack, an excellent iPad combo. Yes, there are some minor issues with a little light bleed but no device is perfect, and it's not going to last 5 years. Instead of looking for imperfections and little micro scratches in the aluminum people should have fun and enjoy the device. Hope everyone is enjoying their iPad 2, I know I am

I think it will come out only if the video iPod that is out now is starting to slow down in sales. The product cycle determines how quickly the next upgrade comes out. On the Apple Store the iPod is in 2nd place. When it drops down to 4th we might see the new video ipod. Although Apple might not wait that long and introduce it sooner to keep demand strong.
If the rumors are true about using it with iTV then this item will become a hot gadget quickly and iTV will sale even better when it does come out.
I have not bought an iPod in 3 years and own 3. For the first time I might buy a new one if this video iPod comes out with these specs.:)

This is what I "love" about MacRumors, it's the only Apple fansite where Apple fans, rightly proud of their products, can log on and be TOLD what their opinions should be by rabid fans of other devices, who in turn use the fanboy card to back up their point of view, therefore rendering any reply by an Apple user pointless.
The Android fans are as bad, if not in fact worse, than the iPhone fans on here. The very notion you come to an Apple site to stress your point of view and borderline enforce it to the point of it being accepted as fact, proves as much.

Maybe if your idea of "traditionally" ignores most of the last quarter-century or so...

I knew we would see crap like this, after some of the biggest extremists in the party got elected, but I had no idea it would be this bad. Have fun while you can Republicans, it will be short-lived.
